175 years of Hanseatic entrepreneurial tradition

Since 2017, the Possehl Identification Solutions Group has been a division of the internationally active Possehl Group, headquartered in Lübeck, Germany, and is thus firmly rooted in a Hanseatic entrepreneurial tradition stretching back over 175 years. These roots shape our identity: long-term thinking, reliability and sustainable success form the foundation of everything we do.

Currently, more than 200 companies employ around 13,000 people worldwide, over half of whom are based in Germany. The companies retain and nurture their unique identities and continue to develop independently within the group.

For 175 years, Possehl has stood for entrepreneurship, diversity, innovation and responsibility. Since 1919, the sole shareholder has been the non-profit Possehl Foundation. This corporate structure ensures the financial independence of the Possehl Group and forms the foundation for its long-term business success.

Social responsibility

A commitment to ‘all that is good and beautiful’

Following in the footsteps of its founder, Emil Possehl, the Possehl Foundation has been committed to “all that is good and beautiful” in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck for over 90 years. It supports projects in the fields of urban regeneration, youth development, the arts, science and social welfare. This social commitment remains a central part of the identity of the entire group to this day, and thus also of the Possehl Identification Solutions Group.
